Anemia Management

Anemia is very common in people with chronic kidney disease. When the kidneys are damaged, they produce less of a hormone called erythropoietin, which is needed to tell the body to make red blood cells. Without enough red blood cells, the body does not get enough oxygen, leading to tiredness, weakness, difficulty concentrating, and a lower quality of life.

At NephronLife, we identify anemia early and treat it effectively as part of your overall kidney care.

What we do for anemia in CKD patients

Regular blood tests to monitor hemoglobin and iron levels

Identification of the cause of anemia, whether from kidney disease, iron deficiency, or another reason

Use of iron supplementation, oral or intravenous, based on your specific needs

Prescribing erythropoiesis-stimulating agents when appropriate to support red blood cell production

Monitoring of treatment response and adjusting doses as needed

Management of related symptoms such as fatigue and shortness of breath

Coordination with other providers if additional investigations are needed

Long-term follow-up to monitor kidney function after the acute event has resolved
